Etymology: A fossilized partitive form of kim (in contrast to the modern form kimmõ), from Proto-Finnic *kümmentä. The partitive was originally used in all multiples of ten from 20 to 90, as can still be seen in for example Finnish kaksikymmentä. It was eventually turned into an independent word, comparable to the English teen.
